As people, we find ourselves trying to skew the facts to justify our ways and thoughts without first coming to the very terms of Gods nature. We are all sinners on our journey with ourselves in the forefront dependent upon our feelings and desires. And because we are this way, most people don’t give much thought to what Christian ethics are and what it can do for them personally. It simply is not a well-known phase, yet it has a profound impact on lives.
God has character simply because He exists. As the result of God having character, things either conform or oppose His very nature. So in essence, Christian ethics is adhering to God’s character by studying what is right and wrong and surrendering to those principles and ways of His nature. Hebrews 4:11-13 is very clear that he has provided division between good and evil.
Hebrews 11 Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following the same pattern of disobedience. 12 For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it pierces even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. 13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight; everything is uncovered and exposed before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.
Since we will give an account to the Lord, hopefully, you will ask yourself “what will enable me to face the Lord who divides good and evil and to be able to stand and hear Him say, well done thy good and faithful servant”? For me, I soon realized that His word was alive and it activated my soul and opened my eyes. I started to see His character, His love and His desires to have me as His adopted son. Knowing that I was chosen to be exalted from the bondage of my sins helped me see myself in a new lite. Though I found myself far from perfect, I knew I didn’t have to carry my sins and I could live the transformative metamorphic nature of the Christian life by studying His word and praying for Holy Spirit illumination of His will for my life.
Again, since Christian ethics is a study of how God views right and wrong according to His character, you’ll find views that penetrate your soul. A personnel study to understand who God is should be the foundation of our Christian walk after the Holy Spirit convicts us of our sins. This study should last our lifetime because God is so great and we are so needy. To have Christian ethics, one must completely surrender to Christ daily. If you fail, repent and get back up and keep going knowing full well that you are His child and His love never fails. Studying His word will encourage and strengthen your faith which the world needs more now than ever before.
The transformative metamorphic nature of Christian Ethics provides truth in building upon a solid foundation, the precious cornerstone, God’s only son, Jesus Christ. After not only hearing the living word, but also being doers of the living word, you will know beyond a shadow of doubt that you have direct access to the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.
